Brady Bantick joins the team at Gran Prix in the lead up to his 2008-2009 race season. Brady has had a long standing affiliation with sport, which began with a love for the snow. Brady quickly became a well know name in Australian cross country skiing and was invited to train at the Australian Institute of Sport. This gave Brady the competitive edge that he needed to become an active member of the Australian Ski Team. Competing in 5 Australian Cross Country Skiing Championships.
Luckily for us, Brady's passion is now cycling. With skiing behind him Brady now spends his free time with his family and on the bike. Brady Bantick has now become a name feared by many in the Melbourne club criterium circuit, with 9 podium finishes, four of which were wins, in the last two years alone. Brady stays in top physical condition. This is shown by his VO2 Max of 83mg/kg/min and is similar to world class athletes like Lance Armstrong. To put that into context, most mere mortals have a VO2 Max of 40-45mg/kg/min and the highest ever recorded is 96mg/kg/min.
Brady and Stephen run social road rides departing from the shop on Saturday mornings at 7am. These rides are for people of all skill levels. There are often enough people for the group to split up and ride different distances. 20, 45 and 80km distances are available. These rides are a great chance to get to know other riders and pick up handy riding tips from Brady. Find out more here.
Brady's ultimate goal for the '09 season will be the Victorian and Australian Road championships, along with providing entertaining race stories and riding related anecdotes.
