Madone 6 Series
Ever seen a really great bike, but it wasn't quite right? The 'Trek Madone', arguably the best and most successful Tour bike in the world, steps up to the next level with their ProjectOne series bikes.
Trek ProjectOne allows you to design and build your dream bike online on a virtual platform, where you can firstly choose the colour and design of the frame paintwork, then select which brand and model of groupset to run, supplied by either Shimano, Campagnolo or SRAM. Wheels are selected next, with a vast range available from Bontrager and Mavic. To finalise your bike all you need to do is select the colours for the remaining compononents.

Trek Bicycle Corporation has announced an all-new 6 Series Madone, the stiffest, lightest, most road shock absorbant and fastest Madone yet. Unveiled to the world against the backdrop of the Col de la Madone--the storied climb where seven-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong has tested his pre-Tour fitness since 1998, and after which the Madone is named--the new 6 Series Madone establishes a new benchmark for total performance, pushing the boundaries of road bike design and integration with a host of new technologies, including the latest addition to Trek's proprietary OCLV Carbon family, OCLV2. OCLV2 offers unprecedented quality control, exquisite ride quality, and the world's best strength and stiffness values per frame weight. OCLV2 is built around three Trek-exclusive technologies that, together, make OCLV2 the most advanced carbon in the industry: Stepjoint(TM) technology; Resin Right(TM) technology; and Net Molding(TM) technology.

Optimum CompactionTo create OCLV carbon, we selectively apply heat and pressure to densely compress multidirectional layers of carbon fiber. This achieves the optimum ratio of fiber to resin in order to maximize strength and minimize weight. |
Low VoidVoids are small, sometimes microscopic gaps between carbon layers where fatigue failures typically begin. Optimum compaction all but eliminates voids in our carbon fiber pieces and components, achieving a strength that exceeds even aerospace standards. |

Lay-Up ProcessSpecific parts are cut to shape with the fiber angle precisely directed. Many competitors, by contrast, piece parts together from random strips of carbon. Trek’s method is better, because it positions the fiber to best handle specific loads and stresses. |
Multi-Directional MaterialAnother proprietary process is called Flat Ply Collation. Simply put, carbon sheets are layered in pre-calculated directions to precisely control the fiber angle in each specific part. This enables it to perform exactly as it was designed to perform. |
